XBB Dongle Adapter Wiring Harness | Mercedes E/C/GLC

This adapter wiring harness is required to install a standard XBB Dongle on vehicle models built on Mercedes’ new MRA2 platform. On these models, the XBB Dongle cannot be connected in the traditional way via the vehicle’s diagnostic port (OBD2 connector). Instead, it must be connected directly to the vehicle’s internal CAN bus network. The configuration profiles for these models are currently listed under PP-CAN. Important to know: This type of installation is more advanced than a “standard” XBB Dongle installation, which is easily carried out via the existing OBD II port. For best results, we recommend that the installation is performed by a vehicle upfitter or an automotive workshop with the proper tools and expertise in vehicle electronics. If you choose to carry out the installation yourself, it is important that you have sufficient knowledge and feel confident performing the work. Location of the adapter wiring harness / XBB Dongle: The adapter wiring harness is installed on the passenger side, near the floor. The XBB Dongle is mounted behind the inspection cover located at the passenger footwell. Power supply and ground are available here. To install the adapter wiring harness, the sealing strip and the lower panel must be removed so that the inner floor can be lifted. Configuration profiles for the MRA2 platform can be found under the PP-CAN list of compatible vehicles. NOTE! In addition to the adapter wiring harness, your XBB Dongle must also have the correct hardware version. It must support CAN-FD, which is available from hardware version XBB Dongle 2.
